Haiti had not scored in a World Cup tournament since 1974. Against Morocco, the team scored two.
Already out of contention, Haiti impressed in the final group game, taking the lead after just ten minutes. At half-time, the score was tied, 2–2.
"Today we scored two goals, and we are really proud of that. The emotions were strong, but it is still very frustrating because we did not get any points," said Haiti striker Wilson Isidor after the match.
With the generation we have, I am confident that we will be here again to take Haiti's first point in a World Cup.
Top-ten-ranked Morocco managed to go 4-2 up in the second half and dominated the game, but Haiti held out enough to deny Morocco the group win. Brazil won Group C on better goal difference.
The result in the group has a direct impact on Sweden if Sweden wins against Japan. If Sweden finishes first or second in their group, it will face Morocco or Brazil, respectively.
