"This is not the start I wanted. But there is strong support around me, both medically and in the club, and I will come back stronger", he says to the club's website.

The Finnish national team player was substituted in Häcken's Allsvenskan premiere against Brommapojkarna (2–0) on Saturday in the 72nd minute.

Twelve minutes later, the centre-back left the pitch with a suspected knee injury. Which has now also been confirmed.

"Unfortunately, it has turned out to be a cruciate ligament injury. Next week, Leo Väisänen will be examined by specialists and then awaits surgery", says team doctor Sadesh Balasingam.

The 27-year-old most recently comes from Austin in the USA and previously played for Elfsborg.
