Last year, Häcken defeated Inter of Italy on their way to the European Cup title, the competition just below the Champions League on the women’s side.
On Tuesday, the Italians got their revenge. In the first round of the Champions League league phase, it was 1-0 to Inter. That after Malta’s Haley Bugeja broke the deadlock with a touch off a Häcken player in the fifth minute.
In the final stages of the match, Häcken goalkeeper Jennifer Falk was sent off after a clear-cut challenge on an Inter player at a free kick.
It’s frustrating and tough to come here and lose 1-0. I feel like there’s a lot we can do better and I’m frustrated that we have more to give, says Josefine Rybrink.
