Lawyer Thomas Hagen confirms to VG that the company York Promotions has sued the airline on Haaland's behalf.
"The case concerns Norwegian's illegal use of Haaland's trademark in its marketing of airline tickets during the World Cup," he writes in an email to the newspaper.
The details of the lawsuit are not yet public. However, according to VG, the lawsuit may be about an image that the airline used in its marketing. The now-deleted image depicted the footballer's former hairstyle, the ponytail, on one of the company's planes.
The airline also confirms the lawsuit.
It is true that we have received a lawsuit that we do not understand, says Eivind Hammer Myhre, press officer at Norwegian, to NTB.
