According to documents from the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), which Expressen has seen, Gyökeres had his application approved in September. The application includes a picture of Gyökeres making the goal gesture, which involves crossing his hands in front of his face like a mask.

Previously, Kylian Mbappé and Cole Palmer have also trademarked their goal gestures.

The reason Palmer did this was to gain better control over how his personal brand is used by others for commercial purposes.

"It was not about stopping other sports personalities or children on playgrounds from making the same or a similar goal gesture," Palmer's law firm wrote, according to the newspaper.
