In the Premier League, Viktor Gyökeres has had to settle for a place on the bench at the start of the season.
In the Champions League, he has been given more chances and started for the second match in a row when Arsenal hosted French side Lille on Tuesday night. But the Swedish international striker was unable to reward coach Mikel Arteta’s faith and is still without a goal in Arsenal’s red-and-white shirt this season.
Gyökeres had few touches of the ball and was substituted after Jurrien Timber’s goal made it 1–0. He then watched from the sidelines as his team saw off Lille, with goals from Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka making the final score 3–0.
Arsenal have started their Champions League campaign convincingly, winning both of their first two games.
