Gyökeres did not play a single minute in Arsenal's opening two Premier League games. In the third, against Chelsea, he came on late and did not make a big impact.
On Wednesday night, the striker was given a starting chance by coach Mikel Arteta when Arsenal faced Napoli in Naples in the Champions League. However, Gyökeres was not particularly involved in the game and was substituted without scoring after 73 minutes.
Instead, Norwegian Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard became the match hero when he scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute.
Reigning Champions League champions Paris Saint-Germain started with a big win, defeating Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at home.
