Gyökeres scored 1–0 in the 12th minute and in a quick counter-attack, he extended the lead to 2–0 after nearly half an hour of play.
The second half began like the first – with a goal by Viktor Gyökeres, who scored his fourth hat-trick in the league this season. The Swede thus extended his lead in the scoring league, having scored 34 goals in 29 league matches.
Middle team Moreirense reduced the score, but never got closer than 3–1.
With the win, Sporting retained the league lead, now three points ahead of local rival Benfica, who play away against Vitoria Guimaraes on Easter Monday.
After the weekend, four rounds of the league remain. The battle for the league title is in practice between the two Lisbon teams, who meet on May 10.
