It wasn't until overtime that the first goal of the game came, when Forsling made it 1-0. There were only 4.3 seconds left in the fourth period when Forsling put the puck in the net, after an assist from Carter Verhaeghe.
Swedish goalie Jacob Markström made 15 saves and kept a clean sheet for Florida. Markström is now back with the club where he began his NHL career, after being traded to Florida from New Jersey last summer.
Florida won the Stanley Cup in 2024 and 2025.
