Gunmen killed 17 farmers in northwestern Nigeria on Friday, local authorities told AFP. Five others were wounded, three seriously.
The northern parts of Nigeria are plagued by jihadist groups and other criminal gangs that attack villages and carry out mass kidnappings.
Since the extremist group Boko Haram began its insurgency in the country in 2009, tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions have been forced to flee.
