Conditions: Sweden has had a very difficult qualifying campaign and can no longer win the group. This means the path to a possible World Cup in Brazil next year goes via a playoff this fall. Denmark leads the group and is close to an automatic World Cup place, but Denmark would lose that spot if it loses to Serbia at the same time as Italy beats Sweden.
Long break: The women's early national team window in the fall has been canceled. Instead, Sweden's next international matches after Tuesday's World Cup qualifiers will be the first playoff match, a two-legged tie with matches between October 7 and 13. The decisive playoff will be held on November 26–December 5.
Draw next week: The playoff draw will be made on June 18. Sweden will face a group winner or runner-up from Division C and start away.
