+ How the European Championship is decided

Three countries share the European Championship – Hungary, Switzerland, and Austria – with group stage matches in Debrecen, Basel, and Innsbruck. Two four-team groups at each venue, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the intermediate round.

Sweden plays in Group A in Debrecen along with Hungary, North Macedonia, and Turkey.

If Sweden advances to the intermediate round, they will remain in Debrecen and face the top two teams from groups B and C. The top teams from groups D, E, and F will meet in Vienna.

The top two teams from each group in the intermediate round advance to the semifinals. These matches, as well as the medal matches, will be played in Vienna.

+ Sweden's matches

November 28: Sweden–North Macedonia (20.30)

November 30: Sweden–Hungary (18.00)

December 2: Turkey–Sweden (20.30)

If Sweden advances to the intermediate round, they will play matches on December 5, 6, 8, and 10. The semifinals will take place on December 13, and the bronze medal match and final on December 15.

+ Sweden without a medal in ten years

The last time Sweden won a championship medal was in 2014 when they took bronze in the European Championship. Four years earlier, they took silver. These are the only championship medals won by the Swedish women. In the Olympic Games earlier this year and in the World Championship last year, they finished fourth.

+ Injury situation

Anna Lagerquist, Nina Koppang, Mathilda Lundström, and Daniela de Jong will all miss the European Championship due to injuries. For de Jong, who was selected for the team, it was only on Monday that it became clear that she would miss the European Championship due to a back injury. Star player Jamina Roberts suffered a severe ankle sprain last week, but played in Sunday's second national team match against Poland.
