Swedish record holder and fresh World Cup bronze medallist indoors from 2026. Has the capacity to throw well over 19 metres when everything is right.

One of Sweden's most experienced championship throwers and a constant final candidate. Showed strong form during the season and is seriously competing for the medals.
Vanessa Kamga, discus
Has established herself as one of Europe's best discus throwers and has all the tools to fight for a medal.
Maja Åskag, long jump and triple jump
One of Swedish athletics' greatest talents and already established at international level, fifth in Europe this year in the long jump.
Armand Duplantis, pole vault
The biggest star of the championship and Sweden's surest medal candidate. Reigning European champion and world record holder who repeatedly raises the bar when it matters most.
Daniel Ståhl, discus
One of the world's top discus throwers of the last decade and a championship machine. Always a threat in the fight for medals. Gold at the European Championships is the only thing he lacks.
Andreas Almgren, 10,000 metres
Has made the step up to Europe's absolute long-distance elite. World Championship bronze in the event in Tokyo in 2025.
Carl Bengtström, 400 m hurdles
European champion during the season and reigning bronze medallist in the event.
+ New world record?
Armand Duplantis has set world record after world record in recent years. He is of course the gold medal favourite heading into the pole vault final and the question is whether he will surpass himself once again. In March this year, the 26-year-old set a world record for the 15th time when he jumped 6.31 metres in Uppsala.
+ “Erase the medal record”
National team captain Kajsa Bergqvist has, just as during her career as an active high jumper, set the bar high for the Swedish European Championship squad. Bergqvist believes that the medal record of six medals from the European Championships in Gothenburg 2006 will be broken.
It is within reach even though it requires a very good championship from us, said Bergqvist in connection with the final squad selection.
