Where: Houston, Texas.

When: Thursday–Sunday.

How: 132 players participate. After two rounds, the top 65 (including ties) will play this weekend.

TV: Viaplay broadcasts Thursday–Sunday.

The competition: Nabisco Dinah Shore, Nabisco Championship, ANA Inspiration and now Chevron Championship. The first major of the year has changed its name a couple of times, but is still considered the same competition. It was played year after year at the Mission Hills course in California, but moved to Texas after Chevron took over as the main sponsor.

Prize money: Just like last year, it's a total of eight million dollars. Mao Saigo of Japan is the reigning champion and received 1.2 million dollars (equivalent to around eleven million kronor) for the victory.

The Course: After three years in The Woodlands, a few miles north of Houston, the competition is now moving closer to the city center. Memorial Park Golf Course, where the men on the PGA Tour recently played the Houston Open, is the new home of the Chevron Championship.

Swedish exclamation point: Seven players in the starting field show that Sweden remains strong in women's golf. No other European country can match that in the first major of the year.

Swedish question mark: Maja Stark won the U.S. Open last year, but has had a really bad run of form since then. Linn Grant did win on the LPGA Tour as recently as November, but had to withdraw from her last event for health reasons and has not competed for a couple of weeks. Also: Madelene Sagström is pregnant and not in top form. Linnea Ström has not had a top 10 finish in a year and a half. And Ingrid Lindblad has had major swing problems, but at least took a step in the right direction when she finished 36th last week.

The freshest form is shown by Frida Kinhult – sixth in Arizona a few weeks ago – and Solheim Cup captain Anna Nordqvist, who was 18th and the best Swede in the series in California.
