The Swedish left back has had a promising start to his England adventure and been praised by the British press for his efforts so far.
When the Premier League resumed after the international break, the 26-year-old was again trusted from the start against Fulham.
For a long time, the match was evenly balanced. After 90 minutes, the score was still goalless and much indicated a draw. But that was not the case.
A corner from Fulham reached Gudmundsson, who without pressure from the opponent steered the ball into his own net. The own goal was the only one in the match and meant that Fulham took all three points.
According to Sky Sports, a dejected Gudmundsson left the pitch directly after the final whistle and walked alone towards the player tunnel.
”A victim of bad luck during an afternoon when Leeds deserved at least a point”, notes the TV channel.
