Residents in five communities are being evacuated around Volcán de Fuego, the "Fire Volcano", in Guatemala which has started spewing out hot gases and ash high up into the air.

The authorities expect that more will need to be evacuated, considering the activity in the volcano.

The 3,763 meter high volcano is one of Central America's most active, and is located only five miles from Guatemala's capital. In 2018, around 200 people perished in an eruption when many villages and buildings were exposed to ash, stone and toxic gases.
