Groundhog, groundhog. Or, for those who speak groundhog, it means another six weeks of winter in the US.
According to tradition, spring is near if Phil doesn't see his own shadow when he emerges from the burrow at dawn. But if he sees his shadow and turns back into the burrow - which happened this year - winter will stay for another six weeks.
Phil has been predicting the weather since the late 19th century. The rodent's popularity skyrocketed with the 1993 film "Groundhog Day."
Phil formally conveyed his prediction to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club president, wearing a black top hat, who then announced the forecast to the tens of thousands of people gathered at Gobbler's Knob.
