Grounded Ship Ali Aykin Salvaged Near Malmö

The grounded ship Ali Aykin which got stuck outside Klagshamn was salvaged during the night to Thursday and was taken into Malmö's harbor.

Shortly after 23, the ship passed, according to Sydsvenskan the Öresund Bridge and at 01 o'clock the ship was, with the help of two pilots, in Malmö's harbor for checks and repairs.

The nearly hundred meter long bulk cargo ship ran aground in Klagshamn south of Malmö on May 25. The foreign-flagged ship was on its way from Gdansk in Poland to Setúbal in Portugal, loaded with scrap. The water depth where the ship got stuck is 5.3 meters.

On board, there are also 69,000 liters of diesel oil, but at present, there are no signs that the ship is leaking.

A man from the crew has been arrested, suspected of gross negligence in maritime traffic in connection with the grounding. The man denies the crime. The rest of the crew has remained on the ship since the grounding.
