Sales in the grocery trade are increasing. Sales in August increased by 4.6 percent compared to the same month last year.

On the other hand, the inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 4.7 percent during the same period, which means that the sales development ends up at -0.1 percent after price adjustment according to Svensk Dagligvaruhandel.

"The sales in the daily goods trade increased during August. Since the inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages in a yearly rate was slightly higher than the sales growth, the volume development was slightly negative", writes Karin Brynell, CEO of Svensk Dagligvaruhandel in a press release.
