At the same time, sales growth in stores in the first month of summer was 4.4 percent compared with the same month last year.
According to Statistics Sweden's preliminary statistics on the Consumer Price Index, inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages in June was -6.8 percent. This can be explained by the halving of the food VAT, which led to prices falling by 0.6 percent between May and June.
"Sales developed stably during the month, while Statistics Sweden's preliminary statistics show that food prices are now almost seven percent lower than a year ago," writes Karin Brynell, CEO of the Swedish Grocery Trade, in a press release.
