Grindr to pay more than 335 million kronor in UK settlement over shared HIV status data

This comes after the dating app - which targets LGBTQ people - was sued, accused of sharing sensitive data with advertisers, including in some cases information about HIV status.

The £26 million settlement ends a two-year legal battle between American Grindr and around 12,000 users in England and Wales.

According to The Guardian, Grindr refers to events that took place before 2020, when the app's data management looked different from today. The company "disputes the allegations" on the merits but acknowledges users' "concerns and loss of trust."
