Up to 40 migrants were on Thursday in an inflatable boat that quickly lost air in the Mediterranean south of Crete. Near the distressed boat was the ship Madleen, whose crew of activists – including Swedish Greta Thunberg – say they are trying to transport supplies to Gaza.
In connection with Madleen approaching the location, four of the distressed persons are said to have thrown themselves into the water to avoid being taken care of by a Libyan coast guard ship. The persons could be picked up by Madleen's crew, while the rest of the migrants were picked up by the coast guard for transport to Libya.
The total twelve activists on board Madleen began their journey on Sunday.
