In the post, Greta Thunberg says that "every artist who drops out of the tour and every fan who cancels their ticket is choosing their conscience not to participate in apartheid and genocide."
After Macklemore was kicked off the tour for his support for Palestine, more artists dropped out, including Finneas and the Irish band Beoga, who served as Sheeran's touring band.
It was after a concert in New Jersey, where Macklemore shouted “liberate Palestine,” that the promoter stopped him from taking part in the remaining US shows. One of the venues is owned by billionaire Robert Kraft, who also makes significant donations to the State of Israel.
Referring to Kraft, Lukas Graham, who also dropped out of Sheeran's tour, said: "No one's bank account should determine who gets to speak or what suffering we get to acknowledge."
Sheeran has said that he refuses to be drawn into a public debate about the war in Gaza.
