"The safety of our employees is our top priority," writes Tuva Bogsnes, communications manager at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an email.

The incident has been condemned by Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.

"I am convinced that the Israeli police will act decisively to quickly locate the perpetrators who committed this so that they will be brought to the full force of the law," he writes in a post on X.

The motive behind the attack and who carried it out is still unknown.

Norway's embassy in Israel closed on Monday due to the escalated security situation in the country after the war against Iran.
