Greenpeace ordered to pay $345 million in damages to Energy Transfer over pipeline protests

The legal dispute has been ongoing for several years and has involved Greenpeace and the company Energy Transfer.

Among other things, the company has accused Greenpeace of violence and defamation related to protests against the construction of an oil pipeline nearly a decade ago.

Greenpeace has announced its intention to appeal and has repeatedly stated that it cannot pay hundreds of millions of dollars.
