The Greenlandic government, Naalakkersuisut, has decided to impose a temporary ban on all alcohol sales.
The background is recent alcohol-related fatal incidents, a press release says, without going into detail about exactly which incidents are behind the decision.
This is not the first time alcohol sales have been banned in Greenland. During the pandemic, a similar ban on alcoholic beverages above 2.25 percent was introduced to protect children and young people when families were forced to stay indoors for long periods.
