Wednesday's speech is the first so far that a Greenlandic head of government has held in parliament. And Nielsen thanks early and politely for the support he has felt from the rest of Europe during the year – not least due to the USA's suddenly expressed interest in taking over the entire island.
–You have stood beside us as a friend and a partner and we will not forget it, promises Nielsen.
He now urges faster steps forward to further improve the cooperation.
–Greenland has the potential to become a key partner to the EU when it comes to renewable energy, he says, among other things.
Some criticism is also given, mainly against the fact that the EU makes it difficult to sell products from Greenlandic seal hunting.
