The increased military presence is part of the "Arctic Endurance" exercise.
"Initially, the countries' work consists of investigating the possibilities of supporting "Arctic Endurance", which is planned to take place throughout 2026 in and around Greenland," the Danish Defense Command writes in a press release.
So far, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, Iceland and Belgium are participating; they are either in Greenland or have been there to plan the exercise.
