We want to give this money in support to municipalities and regions so that they can expand or improve their infrastructure for walking, cycling and public transport, in exchange for them making their own contributions to improve the urban environment, says spokesperson Daniel Helldén.
The proposal is about reintroducing urban environmental agreements, which were introduced in 2015 by the red-green government and then removed by the current government.
In total, the proposal involves SEK 6 billion over four years that municipalities and regions will be able to apply for. The state will cover up to 50 percent of the cost of the measures.
