Ricarda Lang and Omid Nouripour are stepping down as party leaders for the German Green party Die Grünen after several electoral defeats recently.
A fresh start is needed, said Nouripour in Berlin on Wednesday, according to the magazine Der Spiegel.
The duo took office as recently as January 2022, but are leaving since the party has suffered significant setbacks in both the EU election in the spring and the three regional elections in Saxony, Thuringia, and Brandenburg this autumn.
In the latter federal state, the party dropped from almost eleven percent in 2019 to just four percent on Sunday.
