The budget committee in the German parliament has approved an investment of around 50 billion euros with the aim of modernizing the country's defense.

The investment involves the equivalent of approximately SEK 545 billion in military purchases, distributed over around 30 procurements.

The extensive list of procurement projects includes everything from robots and air defense systems to various types of armored vehicles, satellite and radar systems, and soldier equipment such as uniforms and protection.

The modernization is taking place against the backdrop of the changing security situation in Europe due to Russia's aggression in Ukraine and demands from the United States that European countries take greater responsibility in NATO.

"We are fulfilling our obligations to the alliance and taking our responsibility for security and peace in Europe," the German Defense Ministry wrote in a press release.
