The merger has been planned for some time. After the green light from the Commission on Thursday, the merger is expected to take effect on Monday.
The new joint dairy cooperative will be named Arla and will bring together 11,200 dairy farmers in seven countries and 28,800 employees globally.
The total turnover is just over 20 billion euros (216 billion SEK).
“By joining forces, we strengthen our economic resilience and our ability to invest in a food sector with reduced impact on climate and nature,” says Jan Toft Nørgaar, Arla's chairman of the board, in a press release.
