Trump has clearly tried to curb wind and solar energy while encouraging the oil industry.
Despite that, electricity production from renewable sources rose 10 percent last year compared with the year before, according to federal statistics. This means fossil-free electricity accounts for 26 percent of total U.S. electricity production.
The increased demand for electricity, including from the many emerging data centers, also contributed to a sharp rise in coal-fired electricity production, which rose 13 percent.
