Prior to the presidential election in the USA next week, the European Green parties are urging the American green presidential candidate to withdraw from the race.

"We urge Jill Stein to withdraw from the race and support Kamala Harris as presidential candidate", writes the European Greens in a press release.

Opinion polls indicate an extremely even election result, where every vote can be crucial.

"We are convinced that Kamala Harris is the only candidate who can stop Donald Trump and his anti-democratic, authoritarian politics from reaching the White House", they write.

Too much is at stake, with war in Ukraine and the Middle East and serious climate changes. Therefore, Stein must step down now, they believe.

The Greens in Europe have no formal connection to Stein's green party. On the contrary, they have different opinions on many issues, not least on Ukraine.
