Greek shipping company takes the risk, sends oil tankers through Strait of Hormuz

A successful transport can generate revenue equivalent to just over 4.6 million SEK per day.

Greek billionaire George Prokopiou owns the shipping company Dynacom Tankers and has sent at least five oil tankers through the strait since Saturday.

Most have paused their transports until the situation calms down, but some pirates are willing to take the risk, a shipbroker tells the business newspaper.

All tankers sent by Dynacom have turned off their transponders - devices that automatically transmit the ships' positions - during their passage through the strait.
