In Greece, the authorities have ordered that all outdoor work be paused in the middle of the day due to the ongoing heatwave. In the central parts of the country, the temperature is expected to reach 43 degrees, while Athens and Thessaloniki are expected to get temperatures around the 40-degree mark.

In the larger part of the country, people who work outdoors will take a break between 12 o'clock and 5 o'clock. In several cities, public spaces with air conditioning have been opened. The national meteorological institute says that the heatwave is expected to continue until Sunday.
