A complicated knee injury has kept Dejan Kulusevski out of football for more than a year, and the Tottenham star was ineligible for this summer's World Cup.

But perhaps the comeback is quite close. Sweden's national team captain Graham Potter wants to believe that is the case.

"I haven't had an update for a while, I've been focused on the World Cup. But I don't think it's that far away," says Potter.

There is no doubt about what a player of Kulusevski's calibre could bring to a Swedish national team, says the national captain.

It would be fantastic to have Dejan in the team, that's obvious. He's a world-class player. We can sit here and talk tactics and we can talk formations, but if you have world-class players in the team, your chances of winning games increase. And he is one of them.

We just hope he comes back soon. The sooner he is back on the pitch, the better for Swedish football.

The next meeting for the national team is at the end of September. Then there will be Nations League matches against Romania and Poland, both at home.
