Thai world number two Jeeno Thitikul seemed to have her first major win in a small bag on the 18th hole. Then Grace Kim handed out the first slap, by thanks to a superior approach making an eagle to force a playoff for the win.

Then the 18th hole awaited again and when Kim hit the second shot into the water, it was an advantage Thitikul again. Kim was forced to drop, but then sank a long chip for birdie – and made sure there was a playoff hole to come.

Then, when the duo played the 18th hole for the third time in a short while, Grace Kim made an eagle – again.

When the eagle putt fell into the hole, Jeeno Thitikul could do nothing but applaud Kim for a nearly inhuman finish.

24-year-old Grace Kim came to French Évian-les-Bains as 99th in the world and has not even been top ten in a major before.

English super amateur Lottie Woad challenged throughout the final round, which she played in 64 strokes. But Woad finished –13 total, in a shared third place one stroke behind Kim and Thitikul.

Madelene Sagström, the only Swede to clear the qualifying limit, finished on par total and shared 49th place.
