The tax on cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, smoking tobacco, chewing tobacco and other tobacco is proposed to be increased by 3.5 percent, in addition to annual inflation adjustments.
The snus tax will be increased less, with only the indexed tax rate for 2027. This is without the 3.5 percent surcharge, as stated in a memorandum.
The government wants to see the tax change come into effect on January 1, 2027.
