The Government will soon appoint a special rapid investigation into the rules for serving permits for alcohol. The investigation will submit proposals that remove today's requirements for food and kitchen, writes a representative of the Government in a debate article in Expressen.
Today's requirements are not reasonable or purposeful and have been applied very differently in the municipalities, says Minister of Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD) to TT.
It becomes more expensive, it burdens the businesses and today's requirements also mean that a business that, for example, wants to serve cheese and wine, cannot do so. It is a typical example of such businesses, cafes or restaurants that should be able to exist, says Jakob Forssmed.
At the same time, the investigation will assess how the abolition affects different parts of trade and industry and alcohol consumption.
In addition to the food requirements, the investigation will review the rules for outdoor serving. It should not be required that there are indoor seats for businesses to be able to have serving permits for outdoor serving.
There, we must see to it that we get a change, because it is not reasonable that where you sit somewhere plays a role in whether you have a permit or not. Swedes should be able to enjoy food and drink at an outdoor serving area even if the businesses do not have indoor seats.
The fact that the Government wants to rapidly investigate the matter is partly due to a ruling in the Gothenburg Administrative Court from last year, which established that restaurants that only have outdoor seats cannot obtain serving permits. This has been met with strong criticism and led to outdoor serving areas being denied alcohol permits.
