Border controls at internal borders were reintroduced to identify people entering the country who may pose a threat to public order and internal security.
The government believes that the security situation is still serious, including in relation to cross-border crime. The Police Authority, in turn, decides where and how the checks will be carried out.
The decision came into effect on May 12.
