Forssmed says in a written comment to TT that he has received ongoing information from the Public Health Agency about developments and has been informed that the regional infectious disease control department is in contact with the Swedish national who was on board.
"I note that the Public Health Agency shares the assessment made by WHO and ECDC that the risk of spread in society is low," writes the Minister of Social Affairs.
Five of the eight suspected cases of hantavirus have been confirmed since the outbreak was detected on the MV Hondius. Of the eight people, three have died.
