The proposal for the autumn budget means that the special environmental compensation, a government grant with the purpose of increasing the competitiveness of the railway, will increase by around 330 million kronor per year until 2030. This means a total of 885 million kronor per year.
This is important for Swedish competitiveness where freight transport on the railway has a central significance. Many companies are dependent on long-distance rail transport, says Minister for Infrastructure Andreas Carlson (KD) to the radio.
