The background is the high energy prices as a result of the war involving Iran.
"We see that things are brightening economically on the horizon, but we also see serious clouds of worry on the same horizon," says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M).
The reduction in fuel tax will apply from May 1 to the end of September, and in a first step will be reduced to the EU minimum.
"In practice, it is about 1 krona for gasoline and 40 öre for diesel," says SD party leader Jimmie Åkesson at a press conference.
"It costs about 1.5 billion to do it this way."
Electricity subsidy for 2.4 billion
The Tidö parties will also apply to the European Commission to lower fuel taxes further, if necessary.
Minister of Energy and Enterprise Ebba Busch describes the situation in the energy market as serious.
"You should be prepared for the fact that this is really serious, and it will have a major impact," she says.
Could rationing of gasoline and diesel become a possibility like in the 1970s?
"We are not ruling out any measures at this time, but we are not giving any information about those kinds of measures now," she says.
In addition to reduced fuel taxes, the parties are also proposing a new electricity subsidy. The subsidy is presented as an electricity and gas subsidy and amounts to 2.4 billion kronor, in addition to the 1 billion kronor included in this year's budget.
It will be based on household consumption in January and February of this year. And therefore will not go to companies.
"In this situation, it goes to households; that is the assessment we are making at the moment," says Ebba Busch.
Mostly in the south
The Tidö parties expect that the electricity subsidy will mean 1,100 SEK for a family in a villa in northern Sweden, 1,600 SEK for a family in Stockholm and 1,850 SEK for a family in a villa in southern Sweden.
According to Ebba Busch, everyone will be able to take advantage of the electricity subsidy and no special application will be required.
In total, the government is presenting investments at Monday's press conference of SEK 4.7 billion, of which SEK 4.1 billion will be included in the spring amended budget.
The package also includes new compensation to authorities for choosing fossil-free and electric alternatives, as well as a strengthened electric car premium.
The opposition believes that the subsidies are insufficient. "For someone who has received an electricity bill of 14,000 kronor during the winter, a thousand kronor is laughable," says V leader Nooshi Dadgostar. MP Daniel Helldén says that the government is simultaneously locking households into fossil fuel dependence with reduced fuel taxes.
