Track and field sensation Gout Gout, Australia, made his European debut at the track and field gala in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
Then he struck with a victory on 200 meters, after an impressive final sprint.
Gout ran at a time of 20.02 seconds, and thus set both a personal best and an Oceanian record.
I feel pretty good. It's my first competition in Europe, I came here, had a little fun, and set an Oceanian record and personal best. I could not be happier, says Gout after the victory.
The 17-year-old has already secured his ticket to the World Championship in athletics in Tokyo in September, and set a world yearly best on 200 meters in March.
At the Australian championships, Gout won with a time of 19.84, better than Usain Bolt at the same age, but the race had too much tailwind.
