It was last Thursday that 12 wagons in a long freight train derailed between Gothenburg and Borås, probably due to a sun kink.
According to the initial forecast, it would take up to two weeks to repair the damage. Now, that has been extended by about another week.
With all the wagons now removed, our contractor has been able to come up with a timetable and a date for when we will have traffic again. It is July 16, says Hanna Ekberg, section manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.
It is estimated to cost around 10-15 million SEK to repair the tracks.
The accident continues to have a major impact on train traffic between Gothenburg and Stockholm, among other places.
Trains from Stockholm are turning around in Alingsås and from there they are replaced by buses to Gothenburg. Regarding the Gothenburg-Kalmar route, the trains are completely cancelled and replaced by buses, says Anna Sandh, press communicator at SJ.
