It was last Thursday that twelve wagons in a long freight train derailed between Gothenburg and Borås, probably due to a sun curve.

According to the initial forecast, it would take up to two weeks to repair the damage. Now, that has been extended by about another week.

With all the wagons now gone, our contractor has been able to come up with a timetable and a date for when we will have traffic again. It is July 16, says Hanna Ekberg, section manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.

The accident continues to have a major impact on train traffic between Gothenburg and Stockholm, among other places.

Trains from Stockholm are turning around in Alingsås and from there they are replaced by buses to Gothenburg. Regarding the Gothenburg-Kalmar route, the trains are completely cancelled and replaced by buses, says Anna Sandh, press communicator at SJ.
