This year's book fair in Gothenburg attracted 95,700 visitors, which is the largest number since before the pandemic, according to P4 Gothenburg.

The fair usually reports the total number of visits and not unique visitors, and this year they got more than 2,000 more visits than last year.

The high pressure has been noticed during this year's fair, not least when the queues to Fredrik Backman and Björn Borg's signings made it difficult to move around on the floor.

Many feel that there have been more people than before. It has been overwhelming for both us and the visitors, said the fair's CEO Oskar Ekström to TT on Sunday.

This year, 775 exhibitors and 3,250 participants from 35 different countries participated. This year's Book Fair is the 41st in order and the themes were love and lust, as well as drama.

It is also clear that next year's themes, in addition to popular education and the city of Quebec, will be TV games, so-called gaming – which cultural writer Björn Werner will be responsible for.

It is the absolute largest cultural form we have in Sweden, and the economically largest cultural industry, he says to Göteborgs-Posten.
