Barometern-OT, Blekinge Läns Tidning, Borås Tidning, Kristianstadsbladet, Norra Skåne, Smålandsposten and Ystads Allehanda have been collaborating since 2014 when it comes to literature. Now they are introducing grades on literature reviews.
"In the digital age of constant noise, it's not enough to have good material. The criticism must also reach out. We, quite honestly, have had trouble with that. Now we're making this change to reach more people", says Alba Mogensen, culture editor Ystads Allehanda, in a press release.
Media in Sweden have traditionally not had a grading system for reviews of literature, theater and art. But in the fall of 2023, the Norwegian public service company NRK introduced grades and according to them, the initiative has made more and even younger readers start taking part in the reviews. Aftonbladet also recently chose to start grading books.
