After the bandy SM-final at the weekend, dramatic scenes unfolded in the midst of Villa Lidköping's victory celebrations. An ambulance drove onto the ice and Edsbyn player Jesper Granqvist had to leave the arena in Västerås to go to hospital.
The reason: A club that hit Granqvist in the neck after Villa's Gustav Friman had taken a shot.
I got the tip of the club blade on my larynx. It was just bad luck, says Edsbyn player to Aftonbladet.
The doctors established that the 23-year-old had got a bruise on his vocal cords and some muscle damage around his larynx.
I can breathe well. It stings and is a bit uncomfortable when I talk and a bit of pain when I swallow, but the doctors think it will resolve itself.
Granqvist was discharged on Sunday morning and went home with the team. He tells Aftonbladet that he felt empty when he couldn't be with the team immediately after the match.
You think more about the match than how you're feeling. Especially when you lose, you want to be with the others and mourn.
Villa Lidköping won the final against Edsbyn with 7–3.
