For Kathryn Hahn, who plays Agatha, the opportunity to front her own TV series came like a bolt from the blue.
I didn't think it was true when they offered me my own series, she tells TT.
I can still hardly believe it.
In the series, which consists of nine episodes, viewers get to follow Agatha as she gathers a group of other witches to take on and follow what is called The Witches Road. However, there will be no continuation of the series.
It was important that this is about a trilogy. First "Wandavision", now this series, and then something for the character Vision. It was never intended that my series would get a season two.
"So simpatico!"
The series is created and written by Jac Schaeffer, who, apart from "Wandavision", has written the biopic "Black Widow". Kathryn Hahn pours praise on her way of collaborating.
Our visions really matched, I trusted her completely, so simpatico! And we went through all the details that pointed to other stories in the Marvel world. It was important, characters do pop up in each other's stories.
Hahn says she is a die-hard Marvel fan and that she works hard to keep track of what's happening in the Marvel universe.
It's fun. It's important to know the mythology. And after doing this series, I've learned what an "Easter egg" is, she says, referring to the hidden clues laid out in the series for particularly keen TV viewers.
"Scary for the men"
The witches in the series are dangerous but mostly friendly. Kathryn Hahn is interested in the view of witches throughout the centuries. Both in Sweden and in the USA, women were burned alive after being accused of witchcraft.
It has been women who have seemed scary to men, often women who managed on their own and had a connection with nature that men didn't have. It has often been the case that if you needed to find someone to blame, it was often the women.
